Welcome to my ‘China Diary’ Blog where I post some strange or hilarious happenings from time to time.

This is just a random collection of memories – in a somewhat random order…

Welcome to China

After three nights at an average hotel close to the campus I was supposed to move in some temporary furnished accommodation – doesn’t sound too bad, eh. What I did not know by this time: it is the student’s accommodation building.

I spent two hours on cleaning this place. And no, that’s not a mattress on the bed. It is only a piece of wood clothed in some fabric. Hard nights ahead…

Settling down

Running from A to B to C and back. Arriving and settling down in China requires an awful lot of paper work to organise the work and resident permit…

…and you only have 30 days until your initial visa expires.

Campus Life

China is the country of counterfeits. Still, copying my office key from a colleague’s one presented a major problem: three attempts failed.

Orientation on the campus made easy…
